2022 Operation Reach Out

Helping those who serve for us.

In 2021 GBU Life, along with our members sent more than 7,000 care packages to deployed troops and local veterans in need. We contributed funds to donate needed items such as bedding, exercise equipment, food and hygiene supplies. These items were sent along with warm wishes from our GBU members in the form of cards and letters.

For 2022, we will again be meeting for in-person packing events. During these quarterly events, we will be sorting and packing hygiene, snack and leisure kits, which contain common wish-list items that we will be able to send to our deployed troops when they are requested. You can support Operation Reach Out by volunteering to help pack, making a donation or simply by coloring cards to send with the care packages.

Our next packing day is scheduled for Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the Operation Troop Appreciation Headquarters. Visit community.gbu.org/events and scroll down to “ORO Quarterly Pack N’ Prep: October Event” to register as a volunteer.

GBU Life Scholarship Awards: Where Are They Now?

The GBU Life Scholarship Awards support students in college, trade programs, non-college programs, and graduate school, helping them achieve their dreams, setting them on a career path and realizing life goals. Since its founding, the GBU Foundation has awarded 4,500 scholarships and educational grants totaling more than $3.2 million. In 2025, 215 members received $226,000 to support their two‑year, four‑year and graduate studies. Birthday Bash: Continuing the Celebration

To celebrate our 134th anniversary, GBU Life launched the Birthday Bash initiative, calling upon the GBU Life community to honor our fraternal legacy through service. GBU Life invited members, producers, and community leaders to assemble and deliver shelf-stable cake kits for individuals and families who may otherwise go without a birthday celebration. What can seem like a simple act of service could be the spark of hope someone needed.
