For the Love of Ice Cream

April 27, 2022
When I was asked to do a review of GBU Life’s newest member benefit, VIP Perks! by Entertainment, no one had to "twist my arm." This project would involve scrolling through the pages and pages of restaurant coupons in my area to pick a place to dine, guilt-free. Being 26-weeks pregnant, my cravings took over my decision-making process: ice cream was (and always is) the clear answer.

Lucky for me, my favorite place to get ice cream in Pittsburgh, Scoops, had two different perks offered. Since my husband also shares a deep love for ice cream, we picked the BOGO (buy one, get one) deal on a two-scoop cone.

Once we got to Scoops, I simply logged into VIP Perks! on my cell phone, found the coupon and selected the Redeem option. The coupon populated at that point, and I showed the cashier whenever we got to the register.

The entire process could not have been any easier and saved us about $5. Since there are dozens of restaurants, attractions, activities, shopping, services in my area participating in this program, there is no shortage of coupons we can continue to use every time we go out.

Every child can name a teacher who made a difference: the one who stayed late to help, offered encouragement at just the right moment or made learning feel exciting. Recognizing a teacher’s dedication doesn’t require grand gestures, but it does call for intention. Thoughtful appreciation gifts, especially during Teacher Appreciation Week or year-end celebrations, offer a tangible way to express heartfelt gratitude.
