Spring has SPRUNG! Well, not yet at least, however, it is right around the corner. That said, now is the perfect time to start preparing for warmer weather. Here are some ways you can get the exterior of your home ready for spring.
Depending on what the winter conditions are like in your area, as well as how much you love or hate the snow, you may not have taken a stroll through your back yard in quite some time. A warm day with no snow fall is the perfect time to survey the exterior of your home. Things to make note of are the condition of the gutters and downspouts, your roof, and your patio and deck. After surveying the condition, you’ll have a much better idea of what you are working with.
If you notice debris on your roof, grab a latter and do some clearing. If it’s more than what you think you can take on, call a roofer. Don’t forget to get your chimney swept if you have a woodburning fireplace. Collect the twigs, brush, and other debris from your walkway areas to immediately improve the curb appeal you may have been lacking during the frigid temperatures.
What is more satisfying than bringing dirty and pollen-covered furniture back to life? Squeeze some dish soap in a bucket with hot water and start scrubbing your furniture down, piece by piece. You will more than likely want to do another deep cleaning once summer has arrived, but at least you’ll have less cleaning to do in one sitting. Now is a great time to get the power washer out if you have one for your patio or deck. These can also be rented at stores like Home Depot and Lowes.
Next, it’s time to move on to those pesky windows. Move around the perimeter of your home, window by window, with a bottle of Windex and a washcloth to get those windows sparkling.
Now is a great time to start thinking about the tune-ups you need done. You might want to consider replacing the oil and spark plug in your lawn mower, spraying down your mower to remove excess debris, and getting the blades sharpened.
