Three Quick Breakfast Ideas for High Schoolers on the Go!

July 11, 2022

Mornings can be a challenge for many high school students. Oftentimes, breakfast is forgotten about in the morning rush. Luckily, parents and teens alike can take note of these three quick breakfast ideas for high schoolers on the go.

Berry smoothie

Smoothies typically contain a fruit, a liquid and a thickener. A simple berry smoothie consists of one cup of frozen mixed berries, 6-8 ounces of almond milk, ½ cup of Greek yogurt and a banana. This beverage is high in nutrients and antioxidants and may help you feel fuller for longer.

Make it!

Put desired ingredients into a blender and hit mix. Pour liquified contents into a tumbler with a straw, take a sip and head out the door.

Avocado toast

This Instagram-worthy breakfast not only tastes good but provides a fantastic source of vitamins, fiber and healthy fats. All you need is one large avocado, the right seasoning and a slice or two of whole-grain bread.

Make it!

In a small bowl, mash an avocado with a fork until chunky. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic. Toast a piece of whole-grain bread and then spread the mashed avocado mixture on top. Enjoy the toast as is or, get creative with some finishing touches like sprinkling some Everything but the Bagel Seasoning on or adding a fried egg. No matter how you top it, it’s delicious.

Breakfast bento box

A bento box is traditionally a Japanese take-out lunch comprised of rice, fish and vegetables. The container itself has dividers that separate each meal component. Using the same concept and swapping out ingredients, you can create a homemade, breakfast-bento box that fits your taste. For example, pack a hard-boiled egg, fresh berries, string cheese and a handful of mixed nuts. Alternate food items throughout the week or stick to the same menu.

Make it!

Channel your inner toddler and choose finger foods that make for a good breakfast. Gather ingredients like fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, trail mix, peanut butter or cheese, and assemble your breakfast bento box!

What’s great about the breakfast ideas listed here is they are all customizable to individual taste, are quick to put together and are a healthy way to start the day.
