Give Back Group Project Spotlight: St. Anne Catholic School Pickleball Tournament

February 6, 2023

GBU members Peter Nelson and his son Peter, along with Eric Moskala, organized Team NIA

(Nelson Insurance Advisors) as their Give Back Group for the St. Anne Catholic School Pickleball Tournament fundraiser in September. Eight-year-old Peter is a student at St. Anne.

“The fundraiser went amazing and was a lot of fun as well!” Peter explained. Team NIA helped raise$7,500 at the Tournament, and GBU provided a $2,000 match to St. Anne Catholic School.

The funds will be used to further enhance the education of the children in the community who attend St. Anne Catholic School, which is considered one of the finest private schools in the East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia area.

Peter Nelson, FICF, LUTCF, president of Nelson Insurance Advisors in Bristol, Tennessee, first heard about GBU Give Back Groups at a Milwaukee GBU Producer event in summer 2022. He was eager to participate in the Give Back Group matching program to benefit his local community and now encourages other members to join him.

Give Back Groups

If you are working to raise funds for an organization that impacts your local community, GBU will match the funds your group raised up to$1,000 per GBU member to a maximum of $5,000 per group. Fundraising can be organized in any way preferred: in person, through a mail campaign or even via Facebook. The funds matching must be for a qualifying 501(c)(3) organization that impacts your local community. The organization must have a listing on Charity Navigator.
